To collect unemployment extensions, you must have already exhausted your regular 26 weeks of unemployment benefits from the DES.
If approved, the extensions will allow you to obtain additional weeks of benefits at the same compensation rate as your regular state unemployment. You must meet the eligibility requirements and apply separately for the extensions.
The Arizona Department of Employment Security (DES) can offer 37 weeks of extensions for a total of 63 weeks of benefits to its claimants. Federal extensions to the benefit period run out at the end of the calendar year 2013. Though emergency unemployment compensation is a national initiative, no all states succeed for all levels of the extensions.
