Teaching Fellowships are not a requirement for master’s students. Teaching Fellows work closely with faculty to assist with ensuring high-quality learning, evaluation of work, and support takes place for each course. Learning how to teach is an important skill to develop and hone. Additionally, MEM students also have access to guidance from their respective Specialization Coordinator.Īfter a student’s first semester, one may switch advisors pending their signed consent. Because you are welcome to seek professional advice from any YSE faculty member, it is not crucial that the expertise of your Academic Advisor corresponds with your area of professional interest. This includes ensuring you fulfill course requirements as well as offer assistance on the selection and scheduling of courses based upon your past experiences, education, areas of academic interest, and professional goals. The role of an Academic Advisor is to provide guidance for your overall program of study. *All MESc and MFS students either selected or were assigned Academic Advisors during the admissions process.* Advisor assignments will be communicated to you by email before the semester begins. A survey to collect your advisor preferences can be found here and is due by July 8. MEM and MF students must request an advisor by selecting their top three choices from this faculty list. Every incoming student will be assigned an YSE faculty member as an Academic Advisor.
